Nissan wins RJC Car of the Year and Technology of the Year awards

Additionally, ProPILOT 2.0, the all-new advanced driver assistance system that recently debuted on the Nissan Skyline, won the RJC’s Technology of the Year award.

In naming the Nissan Dayz as its Car of the Year, the RJC awards committee said:

“The all-new Nissan Dayz has changed the typical perception of kei cars. The newly developed platform, engine and Xtronic continuously variable transmission significantly enhance power, performance and fuel efficiency, and the car features a spacious cabin and luggage compartment. And even better, the model is the first kei car to offer the ProPILOT system and the ‘SOS call’ advanced automatic accident reporting system.”

In giving ProPILOT 2.0 the Technology of the Year award, the committee said:

“ProPILOT 2.0 offers customers an even more exciting and confident driving experience. The new ProPILOT 2.0 system enables hands-off driving while cruising in a given lane. When the vehicle approaches a road divide, or when passing a slower vehicle is possible, the system judges the appropriate timing of the pass, based on information from the navigation system and 360-degree sensing. The driver receives intuitive audio and visual guidance and is prompted to put both hands on the steering wheel and confirm the start of these operations with a switch.”
