Honda R&D Americas Vice President Ted Klaus to Present Keynote at AutoMobility LA

While much of the narrative about autonomous vehicles has focused on the race
to achieve near-term, individual product milestones, many challenges remain to ensure that all road users are able to safely enjoy the benefits of the autonomous age. Klaus will discuss how Honda is addressing the challenge of creating a system of effective communication and coordination among non-automated vehicles, all makes and models of automated and autonomous vehicles, and, more broadly, with all road-users.

Klaus will discuss the details of the 33 Smart Mobility Corridor, a private-public
partnership with the state of Ohio to develop a prototype connected highway. Based on Honda’s Safe Swarm concept, which uses biomimicry to understand the complex and simultaneous movement of multiple vehicles, the project seeks to enable coordination among all vehicles in order to reduce traffic congestion, mitigate potential collisions and provide a more comfortable driving experience. Klaus will share real-world trial results that are helping Honda move toward its vision of a collision-free mobility future.
